I Am ~ Deepening ~ In Union

2nd – 4th March 2012

Ewen Maddock Dam

Being Woman is a yearly weekend gathering on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia, for women, of all walks of life, to come together for celebration, healing, creativity, laughter, dance, ceremony and sisterhood.

“For me the greatest learning/growing from going to Being Woman 09, was to connect with many women, of all ages and from many different walks of life, all looking for growth within ourselves and willing to work on our issues that are relevant to accomplishing our happiness today. A very heart opening experience and I would highly recommend the weekend to every woman who reads this small testimonial.  Many heartfelt hugs to all.”

Are you happy with your life? Do you feel deeply fulfilled in your relationships and in your work? Do you feel as if something needs to change in order for you to feel fully satisfied, and on your true path in life?

Look beyond the familial, societal and cultural mould that has shaped your personality so far in this life, and unveil the juicy Woman you truly Are …

Come together with your sisters, partake in deep initiatory ceremony to re-claim your true self, heal the wounds that prevent you from living your full potential, soak up the power and serenity that is provided by nature and Mother Earth and learn how to live life through your Womb and Heart centres with creativity and love.

There are great changes occurring on Earth at this time, and we as Women are being called to move from expression of life through our minds and our masculine cores, to sinking deeply into expression from our Womb and Heart – with harmonious balance between our inner feminine and masculine energies.

Are you feeling the call? ..  If you feel moved by this call, join us at Being Woman 2012 and let us unite as One!

“Being Woman felt like a coming home to me.  What I mean by that, is that I got a better idea of who I Am.  This happened through the eyes, stories, dances, howlings, touch, songs & laughter that I shared with the other dear women at the gathering.
It was a weekend of honesty, beauty and fun.  I will be at Being Woman again.”

“My adventure and experience of Being Woman 2009 was inspirational, uplifting and made my soul sing.  Made all the sweeter by the sharing of this wonderful event with my own beloved sister.  Being able to share, expand, grow, laugh, dance, sing and hoot with my blood and so many other wonderful new ‘sisters’ is what makes my journey in life flow with ease.  My thanks to the organisers and facilitators for creating a safe and sacred space to explore the divine feminine within and let her have an ever increasing voice in my daily life.  Blessed Be.”

Come Celebrate with us!

.

A little about the Herstory of Being Woman..!

The concept for this event originally began as Woman Spirit Festival.  Supported and yearned for by the women from The Joining, it was re-birthed it as Being Woman… in 2005.   From there it has grown into the powerful event that it is today.

The significance of the ellipses (…) in the title “Being Woman …” resulted from the Women’s brainstorming of how we can include ALL aspects of being a Woman? With the addition of the ellipses, we include every possible expression of Woman, eg. Being Woman doing the dishes, Being Woman working in the corporate world, Being Woman in the bedroom, Being Woman raising children, Being Woman surviving, Being Woman ironing, Being Woman healing, Being Woman nurturing and all other aspects of being a Woman.

In 2007 the Being Woman … Committee also adopted the lotus flower as the logo with permission from the artist.

The Lotus Flower was chosen because of its deep symbology. The flower emerges from muddy ponds and blossoms into something beautiful. As a result, the flower is used to symbolise the human spirit in various ways. Lotus flowers symbolise a person’s ability to overcome obstacles in life.

•   Egyptians used the lotus to symbolise the sun and rebirth

•   In Buddhism, lotus flowers mean purity of speech, mind and body – rising above the waters of desire          and attachment

•   In Hinduism, they symbolise prosperity, beauty, fertility and eternal youth

•  In Indian culture, the lotus has long been used as a symbol of knowledge, fruitfulness and learning

In modern cultures, lotus flowers are still used with their ancient meanings of purity and perfection, along with reinterpretations of those meanings, such as new beginnings and the potential for inner growth and transformational change.

The Joining Association is committed to sustainable culture and ecology, the relationship between the two, and finding ways of living that lead us towards the development of a conscious culture, one which strengthens the connections with each other and the Earth. Except for the Co-Ordinator and the Caterers, all work of Being Woman and The Joining Association is purely voluntary, and all proceeds from Being Woman go to The Joining Association.

Since 2005 Being Woman… has intimately supported the healing and transformation of hundreds of women.  This healing and transformation ripples out to their family members, friends, colleagues and connections – ultimately contributing to the upliftment of consciousness and humanity.

Are you feeling the call?..

“Being Woman was exactly the event I had been seeking. The weekend was heartfelt, authentic and deeply transformational for me. There were so many things I got to experience at Being Woman 2010 that I had so long longed to experience and it was amazing to see them unfold during the weekend…

There was the normal comfortable bits, but then the depth and connection to women I had so long craved in my path to healing the feminine energies within me, and my feminine organs, like experiencing an aboriginal women’s ceremony and dancing bare-breasted painted in ochre surrounded by a group of women of all ages, all sizes and many different nationalities. Swimming naked in the waterhole with the women and having the courage of totally letting go and shedding so much trauma, pain and grief through dancing amongst the women and arriving at a place of peace, love and appreciation.

The location was beautiful, presenters fantastic and all the women were so beautiful. A really wonderful event on all accounts – the only complaint my being felt was that it was over too soon! I will never forget my weekend at Being Woman. It was just the gathering I was seeking.

If you feel the call, or if, like me, you have put your yearning out to the universe and then someone just happens to send you the details of this event…  I say take the leap and go… You’ll be giving yourself the gift of more than just a weekend away, you’ll be giving yourself the most precious gift in the world, the gift of you!”
